I know it's late, but...

[A brief pause.]

I think...Vanitas is gone.

[oathkeeper]

[Right on the nose. He knew it. More than likely because he could feel something different, too.]

I think he is, yeah.

[He frowns a little.]

Are you feeling okay?

[brokenlight]

I'm not sure.

[Ventus and Vanitas have never been close. Never got that opportunity. Every time they spoke, it's turned into an argument somehow with neither side willing to give into the other.

But he's felt his darkness here. still had that connection. To have it suddenly disappear like it has...]

It feels weird.

[oathkeeper]

[Sora can't say he entirely understands the ins and outs when it comes to Ventus and Vanitas. They are very complicated and are a lot like Sora and Roxas- but aren't. Sora can still feel the slight connection he has to all of them. But now Sora can feel the little hollow chink where Vanitas use to be.]

I think I know what you mean. But it probably feels a lot weirder for you.

[He wonders...]

We didn't get to talk that much when he was here. Most of the time he was trying to hide on me. [But he stalked Sora-] Did you get to talk to him?

[Ventus doesn't quite share that same connection with the others, but Vanitas has always been different. A stronger connection that rivals Sora's. But he feels...hollow. More so than usual.]

A few times, but most of our talks ended up with us fighting.

[Which helped in some of their conversations, but not so much in others. Not when Vanitas seemed intent on keeping his distance yet never hesitating to come close either.]

Even after all that, you guys still fought a lot, huh.

[Sora frowns slightly. Honestly, he still has some hang-ups on why Vanitas just let himself fade away back in that dusty graveyard and Ventus just let it happen but... Maybe he just doesn't understand how Ventus actually feels about Vanitas.]

Did you want to talk to him?

I did.

[The answer is straightforward. Ventus has his own issues to work out with Vanitas, but he also felt like doing it during the war hadn't been the best place for it either. The graveyard felt symbolic for them. It had been their beginning. Their end. But Ventus never wanted it to be.

Not at the last expression he saw on Vanitas' face before he faded away.]

It's...hard to explain.

Do you want to try? Sometimes it'll feel better if you try and talk about it.

[Sora asks softly.]

I'm not sure where to start.

[He pauses.]

Even before when he's made me angry with all the things he's done, I've never truly hated Vanitas.

[oathkeeper]

Yeah... I don't think there ever was a reason to actually hate him. I mean, he went through a lot of bad stuff too.

[Honestly, Sora wishes so badly that Vanitas had joined them. Or gone home with them or something.]

I wish I got to know him better.

[brokenlight]

He did. I wished I reached out to him sooner.

[Before the final war.]

I think you would've had a better chance than I would've.

[oathkeeper]

You think so? I don't know. [Sora tilts his head.] What would you say to Vanitas if you could talk to him one more time?

[brokenlight]

That I forgive him. [Pause.] And that I’m sorry.

[oathkeeper]

[Aww... Ventus.]

I hope he comes back someday soon so you can tell him that.

[brokenlight]

Maybe when he comes back, he'll be in a better mood.

[Light joke? Maybe.]

...How're you doing, Sora?

[oathkeeper]

[Sora chuckles too. It's a good little joke. They need that right now, probably.]

Me? I'm doing good! I guess I miss Vanitas a little too because I wanted to talk to him more than I got to. But I'll be okay.

[brokenlight]

Vanitas has always been more like a prickly cat. Unless he wants to talk to you, he'll avoid you.

[Honestly that guy...but...hm...]

You sure?

[oathkeeper]

[Sora chuckles a little. Vanitas did stalk him a little ... It was so weird. Vanitas is just like a weird cat.]

Hm? Yeah. I'm sure. Why?

[What's therapy, can you eat it?]

Yeah. Okay, Ven. I'll try to.

[But there's a very guarded part of Sora that just ... can't do that.]

You know, I wouldn't mind it if we spent more time together. Just you and me.

[Maybe it'll help Ventus feel a little better about Vanitas being gone too.]

[He...gets it. But he worries about Sora, too.]

I wouldn't mind that either. It'd be good to hang out with you more with just us.

[Boys, that's what can be called a "date".]

I think it would be good too! Maybe we can go somewhere! Did you hear about that big tree that only blooms once a year?

[And then they were dating all this time...........]

[Bets on how long until they realize it?]

I did! We can go see it. I heard it's pretty to see when it's in full bloom.

[oathkeeper]

I heard that too. I really want to go see it with you! Let's go.

[This makes him very happy. He hopes it will be a good chance for Ventus to cheer up about Vanitas being gone too. And he just really enjoys spending time with Ventus.]
